Summary

3Rd-year Control Engineering student with a strong analytical foundation in Mathematics, Physics, and Signal Processing. Driven by a deep curiosity for AI, I am actively transitioning from a hardware-oriented background to self-directed learning in Machine Learning and LLMs. Although my university curriculum focuses on theoretical sciences rather than software engineering, I am committed to teaching myself Python and ML fundamentals, working hard to bridge the gap between complex math and practical code.

My professional experience includes a technical internship at Artrom Steel Tubes, which solidified my engineering mindset, and an early start at age 16 in retail, an experience that built my resilience, work ethic, and ability to interact effectively with people. I am now looking to apply my "hard-science" logic and my drive for self-improvement to an internship role in ML/LLM Engineering, where I can continue to learn, adapt, and grow within a professional team.

Work History

Personal Project

  • Smart Parking System (ESP32 + Mobile App)
  • Designed and developed a smart parking system using an ESP32 microcontroller, integrated with various sensors.
  • Built a mobile application to control the parking levels and platform remotely.
  • The system included automation logic for vehicle positioning and real-time feedback.

SQL Project

PoliOlimpics – Sports Management Web Application

  • Designed and implemented a relational database in SQL Server (SSMS), featuring 8 interconnected tables with complex constraints and pure SQL logic.
  • Developed a full-stack integration using Node.js to bridge the database with a custom HTML/CSS/JS frontend.
  • Implemented core CRUD operations and advanced SQL queries (JOINs, subqueries) for real-time sports statistics.
  • Successfully resolved critical backend-to-database connectivity challenges to ensure a stable and responsive user experience.

Ongoing Project: LLM & Machine Learning Practical

  • Objective: Actively exploring the intersection of Machine Learning and Large Language Models (LLMs) by developing a custom chatbot designed to test and validate core AI concepts.
  • Hands-on Experimentation: Moving beyond theory by "juggling" with Prompt Engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and API orchestrations to observe how different architectures impact model behavior.
  • Conceptual Bridge: Leveraging my strong Control Engineering background to transition from deterministic systems to the stochastic nature of AI, focusing on making abstract ML concepts tangible through code.
  • Goal: Building a modular "sandbox" application that allows for rapid testing of new LLM techniques as I adapt to the evolving AI landscape.

Personal Project

  • Self-Parking Car Prototype (Arduino-based)
  • Created a functional prototype of a self-parking car using sensors and a microcontroller.
  • The car could autonomously scan for available spaces and park itself accurately without user intervention.
  • The project simulated real-world urban parking solutions at scale.

Machine Learning Project

AI-Generated vs. Real Image Detection | ML Research

Compared SVM (RBF Kernel) vs. MLP (ReLU) performance on the CIFAKE dataset (60k samples) for synthetic image detection. As technical stack :Python, Scikit-learn, Adam Optimizer, Vectorized 3D Tensors (3072 features). The key result were that i achieved 85.08% accuracy with SVM, outperforming MLP (79.87%) by identifying robust high-dimensional decision boundaries.

Analyzed MLP overfitting and 7h CPU latency issues; concluded that classical models can be more efficient than non-convolutional neural networks for flattened spatial data.

Intern Software Engineer (HMI & PLC)

ARTROM STEEL TUBES S.A, SLATINA
07.2025 - 09.2025
  • Developed and configured 3 Siemens HMI applications (WinCC Flexible) for process monitoring and control.
  • Delivered one project without an available technical specification by performing reverse engineering based on electrical schematics, mapping PLC inputs/outputs to HMI functions.
  • Validated functionality through DB variable forcing and interface testing.
  • Successfully completed the first HMI project within 2 weeks despite having no prior WinCC Flexible experience, showing strong problem-solving and fast learning ability.
  • Collaborated with the automation team to integrate HMI applications into existing workflows.

Interest

Outside of my technical work, I am passionate about playing guitar and singing, activities that keep me creative and energized. Since the age of 11, I have been an active participant in specialized camps, most notably Military  Camps, which were instrumental in developing my discipline, organizational skills, and teamwork. Additionally, my involvement in Erasmus+ projects has significantly enhanced my adaptability and communication skills in diverse, international environments.
