In the past few months, I’ve been amazed by the progress of Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP). The advancements have significantly improved its stability, usability, and tooling, making cross-platform development more efficient and enjoyable.

Inspired by these improvements, I integrated KMP into my personal food delivery app, which, by the way, is used by a few thousand users. Initially developed separately for Android and iOS, maintaining two codebase was cumbersome and prone to inconsistencies. With KMP, I refactored the project to share core business logic, data models, network communication layers and even UI across both platforms.

This integration reduced duplicate code, ensured consistent behavior, and simplified feature implementation and maintenance. Leveraging Kotlin libraries like Ktor and SQLDelight further accelerated development. Overall, KMP has transformed my development process, allowing me to create more efficient and maintainable application.

I plan to release the KMP version of the app next month.
